EDINBURG - The City of Edinburg is honoring six men for their heroic behavior after saving a man's life.
Two Edinburg police officers, the Edinburg Fire Chief and three precinct 1 employees all helped save a man December 22nd of 2010. Police Chief Jose Castaneda told the story of how the two officers jumped into a fast moving reservoir to save a mentally deranged man trying to kill himself. Castaneda says it was an act that went above the call of duty, "Everyone of these officers being honored today, feels that they didn't do anything extra, but they went beyond the call of duty by jumping into the water and putting their lives in danger for trying to save another persons life, who wanted to end his life."
Along with these men another officer was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
