EDINBURG - A drug related shooting sent one man to an area hospital. The incident is being investigated by Edinburg Police and Texas Rangers.
News Center 23 Reporter Erin Murray tells us more.
It was a bloody scene this morning in an Edinburg neighborhood. Police responded to the 1000 block of Denver street, just before 10 a.m. in response to a shooting.
Police, "discovered the victim laying in front of the residence, it was a Hispanic male, 37 years of age. He had an apparent gun shot wound to his left shoulder area," said Lt. Oscar Trevino, Edinburg Police PIO.
Police said the victim knew the gunmen. They believe the two men were arguing over drugs when the suspect shot the victim inside the home. The suspect then left the area, driving away in the victims vehicle.
The Edinburg Police are still in the preliminary stages of the investigation, but we talked to some of the neighbors and they say they got a good glimpse of one of the suspects.
"The guy was standing right here behind my brothers truck. uh and he was, he was just like keeping an eye out i guess. and my mom made eye contact with him for like 10 seconds, and uh, now my mom is like terrified," says Francisco Garcia, Neighbor.
Neighbors believe there is more than one suspect involved, but police cannot confirm that information at this time. Neighbors said this is a family neighborhood and want police to catch these suspects.
"I just see all this blood, I just hope they can get it off the sidewalk. Kids get dropped off here everyday," said Garcia.
