An Edinburg police investigator was arranged in court on Wednesday and accused of abusing his power.

A grand jury indicted Robert Alvarez on eight felony counts for violating an inmate, stealing from the police department and lying on his time sheet. The 47 year-old has been indefinitely suspend from the police department since December of 2010 and is a 17 year veteran of the department.
