New information on the car crash that killed three people near Donna on Monday evening and authorities are saying one of the victims was an Edinburg school teacher, Michelle Macias has more.

The road was off limits on Tuesday morning, this after a four vehicle accident that left most of a family dead. Investigators, along with the Donna Fire department came back out to FM 493, near Mile 11 North to reconstruct the scene in hopes to find the exact cause of the fatal wreck.

Officials say it all happened at 8:30 Monday night when a man driving alone and headed northbound, hit a car in front, that car, a green Chevy Impala carried a family, mom, dad, brother and sister. When the car behind them struck them, the driver lost control and went into the southbound lane. That's when they hit  this red truck and rolled over multiple times. Three people were ejected from the Impala, 60 year-old Alicia Cerda Zuniga, 34 year-old Patricia Zuniga and 33 year-old Reynaldo Zuniga died at the scene, dad was taken to the hospital in critical condition.  Patricia Zuniga was in her fourth year of teaching, she taught career and technology at Edinburg North high school.

A fourth vehicle was also involved, DPS troopers say in trying to avoid colliding with the other cars, the driver swerved out of the way, but the car who began this mess hit him, this driver only suffered minor injuries. This man lives only feet away from the scene of the accident and he says he's witnessed many collisions on this road.

In many of the accidents he's witnessed, he says they've knocked down what used to be a fence here. His family is tired of putting it back up because he knows it'll be knocked down in no time. And those accidents? He says speed was to blame. He has a solution, change the speed limit, maybe this way we will see a drop in car accidents. DPS officials believe the driver who caused this tragedy may have been under the influence of alcohol, but that is yet to be confirmed. The driver remains in the hospital, his condition unknown.
