EDINBURG, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Edinburg Mayor Pro Tem Agustin Garcia Jr. resigned his position immediately to accept the head position at the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation.
Mayor and president of the EEDC, Richard Garcia, stated, "We hate to lose such a strong voice on the Council, but his commercial background is what we need to help us maximize our economic potential while Edinburg is growing.”
Garcia was first elected to the City Council in 2006 and this past May won an uncontested race for four more years on the council.
