Edcouch/La Villa Police Dept. Gets An Upgrade

For the very first time in the delta region city of Edcouch & La Villa is receiving federal funds. With that much needed money, Chief Eloy Cardenas tells us he will make changes to his Police Dept.

A new satellite was installed earlier today for a brand new dispatch system. State if the art equipment is on the way along with more new & improved Police units.

The department recently created a new division that focuses on sexual predators and wanted fugitives.
In their very first weekend, they already arrested two men.
Rodolfo Ramirez Perez was wanted for parole violation and was arraigned earlier today on drug charges.
Trinidad Vargas never registered as a sex offender and is now off the streets. The new division is taking their job very seriously.

Chief Cardenas also plans to start a SWAT team.
He tells us they have applied for a K-9 unit.  With the escalating violence in mexico, he says he wants his department to be prepared.
