It's been a little over two years since Edcouch-Elsa Superintendent Michael Sandroussi was fired.
The school board accused him of over spending and mismanaging funds. Sandroussi left behind a $10 million mess. One that has taken years to clean up.

Robert Rodriguez has been the Interim Superintendent since December. He tells us even though it was difficult to lay off hundreds of employees, it has ultimately saved the district.

Rodriguez says, "It helped immediately to bring up our finances. We did very little hiring since then and we intend to keep it that way so we can continue to grow in our fund balance."

Since sandroussi was fired, the ISD has struggled to find a permanent replacement. Three interim Superintendents have been appointed within the last two years..
Officials tell us they just simply didn't have the money, but now their ready to find a perfect fit.

The Edcouch Elsa ISD hopes to have a permanent replacement within the next few months.
