The Workforce Commission is tripling the unemployment tax on businesses to help fund unemployment benefits.

The tax was set at $23.40 dollars per worker and the commission is tripling the rate to $64.80 dollars per worker. The taxes will feed that state's unemployment fund, which has been depleted by jobless claims for this year. About 700,000 Texans are currently receiving unemployment benefits to date.
