A Valley cruise line could bring with it millions to help boost the local economy.
The Port of Brownsville and several different entities are hoping to see a cruise line come to the Valley. The port is teaming up with the town of South Padre Island, Harlingen airport and the City of Brownsville to request a feasibility study for a cruise line. They say if everything works out the cruise ship could dock along the Brownsville ship channel. Port Commissioners Ralph Cowen says the cruise line could bring in around 20,000 tourists a month.
Cowen says they hope to raise $25,000 dollars and have the feasibility study completed by the end of August.
