Dump Truck Vs House

Truck slams into Arkansas home; still there days later.

From one angle, the Waite Family home in Maumelle, Arkansas looks like just the comfy kind of place anyone would like to be, but a quick glance in another direction tells a much different story.

A dump truck crashed into the home last Monday morning, just feet from where the family was cooking breakfast.

Homeowner Muzical Waite said started what she thought would be a very ordinary day for her and two of her three children at home, until the accident.

"Very indescribable sound, it was unbelievably loud, an audible thing that went through your whole body," Waite said. "I thought we were under attack, that something really bad had gone wrong."

According to police reports a dump truck from ACH Construction rolled into her house from about a half mile up a nearby hill.

Driver and ACH sub-contractor Joseph Clendening told police he was standing outside the truck talking to friends.

He says while the truck was running, a cooler fell off his back seat and hit the truck's air brake, causing the destructive roll through the woods and into the Waite home.

Now a week later the Waites are waiting and can't seem to get any help from their own insurance company or ACH's when it comes to getting the truck removed.

"Can't get the truck moved with the right kind of authorization and we can't get the insurance approval for that authorization until the truck is out, it's a catch 22," explains Daniel Waite.

ACH Construction, owner of the dump truck, is no longer a licensed contractor in the state and owner John Johnson would not describe what the business does now.

Johnson's insurance agent has not returned calls from reporters.
