Dry conditions in the area are making it hard for fire crews to battle grass fires.

In Brownsville many people saw smoke in the sky, but its from Mexico. Crews in Matamoros are fighting the flames that border officials believed started overnight. The blaze is just south of the International bridge across from the University of Texas of Brownsville's golf course.

It is believed that immigrants possibly started the blaze with a camp fire to keep warm overnight and by the morning the flames got out of control. Fire crews in Brownsville did take a look at the fire and they say its not expected to cross the border.
