Drug Load Confiscated by Brownsville Police

Irian Luna-Castillo and Saul Montoya, both of Brownsville, have been arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. Authorities received a tip that drugs would be passing through a certain location in town.

"The information that was relayed was that this vehicle and whoever owned this vehicle was going to be in the area."

The area, a house off of Military and San Felipe Dr. here in Brownsville.

Officers located the car, a silver Volkswagon Jetta, and conducted an open air search with a narcotics dog. The dog alerted police to the pot.

Officers confiscated seven bundles of marijuana and hauled the two men off to jail.

"Local street value is about 35-thousand dollars, but the main thing here of course is that we got these close to 160 pounds of the streets of Brownsville."

Both men were arraigned this morning and given 50-thousand dollar bonds each.
