Driver strikes fountain, tree and light pole arrested for DWI

Harlingen police arrested a driver with DWI after the vehicle he was operating crashed into a light pole.

On Friday, July 4th Harlingen police were called to the area of Fair Park Blvd and N. Commerce Street to investigate an accident.

The officer interviewed the driver, Christian Figueroa, 20, who had driven a blue Ford Explorer which struck a light pole. The officer reported that Figueroa showed signs of intoxication with slurred speech, unsteady balance, odor of alcohol and had failed a standard sobriety tests.

Further investigation revealed that Figueroa had also struck a fountain and a tree in the area of Lon C. Hill Park.

Figueroa was charged with driving while intoxicated, duty upon striking a fixture and handed a $2,800 bond.
