Driver charged with three counts of intoxication assault
HARLINGEN, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Harlingen police arrested a woman, accused of driving while intoxicated, of crashing into two motorcycles and injuring three riders.
On Friday, October 25th around 11 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of S. Interstate 69 East in reference to a major accident involving a passenger vehicle and two motorcycles.
When officers arrived to the scene they discovered a blue 2010 Nissan Versa had collided with a black Yamaha and gray Harley-Davidson motorcycle with three of the four motorcyclist with serious injuries.
Three victims were transported to the hospital and the driver of the Nissan was identified as Thelma Huerta Benitez, 57, who was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Benitez has been charged with three counts of intoxication and handed a $30,000 bond.
