Driver charged with failure to identify

A driver is charged after giving false information to a police officer after being pulled over for a traffic violation.

On Tuesday, June 18, a Harlingen police officer stopped the driver of a white Cadillac Seville for a expired motor vehicle inspection sticker.

When the officer asked the driver for identification he gave the officer the name of Ezzie Joe Cortez,  but he could not produce a vaild drivers license or proof of insurance.

Ezzie Joe was arrested and charged with multiple traffic violations and transported to the city jail for processing.

During the booking process it was discovered that Ezzie Joe had provided a false name and date of birth. He was later identified as Alexander Covarrubias, 20, and additionally charge with failure to identify.
