Driver charged with DWI and two counts of endangering a child
SAN BENITO, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — San Benito police arrested a father for endangering his children after he was arrested for DWI.
On Sunday, August 3rd at around 11 pm a San Benito police officer conducted a traffic stop on a driver at the intersection of Biddle Street and Perkins on a traffic infraction.
The driver, identified as Elmer Ordonez, 35, was accompanied by his wife and two children ranging in ages from 1 to 3 years-old.
The officer noticed a odor of alcohol from Ordonez's breath and asked him to perform a field sobriety test which Ordonez failed.
Ordonez was arrested for DWI, two counts of endangering a child and additionally failure to identify after intentionally giving a different date of birth to the officer.
Due to having two prior DWI convictions his third charge was enhanced to a third degree felony and a bond set at $60,000.
