McAllen — A man accused of a hit and run, involving a 6 year-old boy, appeared in court on Wednesday. Police report that Jaime Gonzalez was heading west on  on the 600 block of Citrana when he struck a child crossing the street in front of Castro elementary.

Witnesses say Gonzalez was speeding in the school area when the boy was struck and later arrested after leaving the scene. The boy escaped serious injury and Gonzalez was charged with an accident involving personal injury which is a felony.
