A routine traffic stop in La Joya turns into a high speed chase down Expressway 83.

Police say the driver of a white SUV refused to stop after police tried pulling him over and turned on their sirens. The driver swerved through traffic then onto a dirt road and into a RV park. He bailed out of the SUV and ran into a wooded area and escaping police leaving behind hundreds of pounds of marijuana.

A total of 300 pounds of marijuana were found inside the SUV and police are keeping the vehicle at the station and investigating the crime.
