MCALLEN - A small act of kindness by someone can sometimes turn into a large act of kindness by many. This happened to an Upper Valley children's hospital after a major toy donation.

The Delta Kappa Gamma Society is made up of female educators and they delivered over 100 boxes of toys call Treasure Boxes. Each box has age appropriate gifts for kids coming to the Driscoll Children's Hospital.

Staff at the hospital said having presents like these on hand can sometimes change an unpleasant experience into a better one.

"Again it just gets their mind off why they are here at Driscoll as far as getting poked and having appointments with the doctors and just that kind of scary not sure feeling of why they are here," said Lizette Saenz, Driscoll Children's Hospital.

The donation was part of a philanthropic project that started out small and grew quickly. So many boxes were put together by the Delta Kappa Gammas that hospitals all across Southern Texas received donations.
