A prominent Brownsville doctor and public servant passed away Monday at his home.

Dr. Joseph Zavaletta was an obstetrician and gynecologist, served on the City Commission from 2001 to 2005, and a Texas Southmost College Trustee who dedicated himself to serve the public.
