DPS Troopers make separate drug seizures

Two separate drug bust in Hidalgo and Starr counties today at approximately 7AM. DPS troopers arrested a 20-year-old Alamo man.  DPS Trooper attempted to pull over the male driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee for a traffic violation in Sullivan City. The suspect, however, failed to yield, and proceeded to speed off eastbound on Expressway 83.

The chase terminated in Palmview just south of US 83 on Bentsen Palm Drive, when the suspect’s vehicle got a flat tire. Trooper immediately apprehended the male and found 400 pounds of marijuana inside the SUV.

And almost at the same time of the seizure in Palmview Texas, DPS Trooper from Rio Grande City stop a tan Ford passenger vehicle at the intersection of U.S. 83 and FM 886 in Starr county.

The driver was stopped for not wearing a safety belt. Driver was detained at the aforementioned location because the Trooper observed the bundles of Marijuana in plain view. The driver was arrested without incident. The driver is a 61 year old male from Guerrero, Mexico. Driver was coming from the Roma area.

Marijuana is being weighted at this time. Approximately 400 pounds.
