The Texas Department of Public Safety reports that during the Fourth of July period troopers made over 1,100 DWI arrest.

During the enforcement period, between June 28th through July 7th, and funding from a TxDOT grant highway patrol troopers made 1,124 DWI arrest, more than 15,700 speeding citations, over 2,400 seat belt/child safety citations, 720 fugitive arrest and 602 felony arrests in the 10 day period.

“These patrols are aimed at taking drunk drivers off Texas roadways and protecting the lives of all travelers,” said DPS Director Steven McCraw. “The men and women of the Texas Highway Patrol dedicate their careers to keeping our communities safe, and I’m certain troopers prevented potentially deadly crashes by removing these dangerous drivers from our roads.”
