The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) on Monday, April 14, 2014, recovered stolen property in western Hidalgo County. DPS Aviation along with the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) and Texas Highway Patrol assisted in the recovery.

DPS Aviation was conducting a border security flight in western Hidalgo County, when they observed a white Ford F-250 pickup parked on a secluded property away from a residence. After conducting a vehicle registration check, it was determined that the truck was stolen out of Weslaco.

DPS Aviation also observed several farm trailers and other equipment located on the same property and subsequently requested assistance from CID and Texas Highway Patrol.

After further investigation, it was determined that the following property at the location also was stolen: two Jet Skis with one trailer, one John Deere Gator, one Ranger ATV, one welder and one BigTex Utility Trailer, all stolen out of Weslaco and McAllen. Additional items were seized at the location, and investigators are working to determine if they were also stolen.

The case remains under investigation.
