Elderly driver crashes into her own home, then reverses into neighbor's.

A Florida family will have to find another place to sleep after a neighbor slammed her car into their Lehigh Acres home.

The crash came after she drove through her own garage and started a fire.

The 80-year-old driver of the car was pulling into her own garage when she hit the gas and crashed through the wall, ending up in her own kitchen.

That crash started a fire, so she put the car in reverse and hit the gas again.

She didn't stop when she hit the street.

Instead, she continued in reverse and slammed through the bay window of the home across from hers.

Trinity Hernandez, 11, and her sister Samaria where sitting in the living room of their grandmother's home when they heard a crash.

They say they heard their 80-year-old neighbor had driven her car into her own garage.

"Then after that, her house caught on fire," Trinity said.

Before they could get over the shock of what happened, they watched as the woman's car came barreling toward the home they were in.

"She pressed reverse and she just flew back and hit the house," Trinity remembered.

The two girls dove out of the way to avoid being hit.

"I was on the couch where the stuff was destroyed and if I was still there I would have died," said Samaria.

"I mean my heart just dropped to the floor I was so scared," added Trinity.

While they were checking to make sure they were both okay, neighbor Steve Howe tried to put out the flames to save the 80-year-old driver's home.

"I heard a lot of screaming and yelling going on," he said. "I grabbed the hose and sprayed all over in there. We were filling up buckets because the fire was shooting up the kitchen walls."

Fortunately, no one was hurt, but the kitchen of the driver's home is total loss.

"The kitchen is totally destroyed. I had to climb over counter to open up the back door and let some of the smoke out," Howe said.

Trinity, her sister Samaria and the family will have to stay with family Wednesday night.

Officials say the home is unsafe.

The driver of the car will have to find a place to sleep as well.
