WESLACO, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — They're everywhere, even on Youtube, we're talking about credit repair services who promise to fix your credit, some even in 30-days.
Enrique Palmon of Donna, went to a local credit repair center to boost his credit score in hopes of buying a home, but instead says he didn't receive the services which were promised. Palmon says, "He wanted to charge me $900.00, so I gave him a check for $900.00, he said in 4-6 weeks you'll start see results."
However, Palmon claims says he didn't see a difference in his his credit scores, so he filed a small claims suit. The company Palmon went to is Blue Star Services. They do credit repair, notary public, and tax services business out of Edinburg , owner Joe Sanches says he fairly presented the contract to Palmon, but said Palmon didn't full fill it.
Sanches says, "The last conversation him and I had was a while back, I don't know what specifically date, but I have it on this file, we were going to meet to help him with his file, were going to meet to continue with his services, but I never heard back from him."
Dolores Salinas of the Better Business Bureau says to think twice, when it comes to utilizing those credit repair places. Salinas says,
"And what we recommend if you're going to spend this money in those type of services is that you're better off paying off your bills alone instead. "
In this case Palmon filed a small claims suit, but says he hasn't received any compensation, on the other hand Sanches says he wasn't aware of any suit.
The Better Business Bureau recommends that before going online to search for a credit repair center, you pull up your own credit score and then work on a plan to pay things off, that way you'll avoid being over charged or ripped off.
Meanwhile, if you feel you've been a victim, the Better Business Bureau urges you to file a report with them or even contact the Attorney Generals Office.
In this case that business the Blue Star Services has received an "F" rating with the BBB.
