In his third visit to the McAllen Border Patrol station in less than two months, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson is now speaking to the media regarding the current conditions at the Rio Grande Valley border.

As the influx of immigrants continues to rise, Johnson announced that available agents are moving from the interior down to the RGV sector.

"We are specifically moving 150 Border Patrol agents from other parts of the country into this sector to supplement the effort. we're moving a number of other personnel from DHS and DOJ," said Johnson.

Additionally, DHS is also seeking supplemental funding from Congress to increase resources along the border.

Johnson says at this time, his concerns about Border Patrol resources being diverted to the surge of unaccompanied children are at ease.

"The assessment is that we're generally keeping our eye on that ball because of the additional resources we've brought in to this sector so that the Border Patrol maintains that focus."

With President Obama expected to take executive action to address the immigration crisis, Johnson anticipates bipartisan support.

"I've had bipartisan conversations with members of Congress who I believe all recognize the need to address this situation and address it forcefully," Johnson said.
