CAMERON COUNTY - Despite the recent travel warning discouraging U.S. citizens from going into Mexico, Custom officials say bridge traffic at the port of entries remain steady.

The U.S. State Department issued the warning on Wednesday stating that citizens should avoid traveling to Tamaulipas, Mexico. Recent reports have surfaced of increased cartel activity including armed robberies and carjackings on state highways in the area. Although no highways are considered to be safe, roads around the City of San Fernando and north of Tampico are reported to be especially dangerous.
