Deaf man arrested for attempting to kidnap woman walking home

Brownsville police arrested a deaf man after he attempted to kidnap a woman walking home in the early morning hours.

On Friday, August 1st at around 1:45 in the morning police were called to the 4800 block of Eloy Street in reference to an attempted kidnapping of a woman.

The victim stated that while she was walking home on Clarrisa Drive a man pulled up to her in a four door Ford Focus and offered her a ride using hand gestures which she refused.

The victim then encountered the same individual again on the 4900 block of Eloy Street where he attempted to force her into the vehicle. She fought off the man and left the suspect with a torn shirt and a scratch on his neck.

At 2:40 a.m. an officer spotted the vehicle parked in the 2100 block of Price Road with the driver, identified as Jesus Hector Torres Ledezma, 28, changing his shirt and  who is also deaf.

Ledezma had a scratch on his neck and the victim positively identified him as the person who assault her. He was arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping and a bond of $20,000.
