Eighty-nine year old Kansas woman is killed Sunday when her husband accidentally drives over her while trying to park vehicle outside church. Nicolette Schleisman reports.
(KSNT) An 89-year-old woman is dead, her family grieving, after a tragic accident Sunday morning, it happened as she was walking into church.
Everyone outside the church on Southwest 10th and Robinson was noticeably emotional after the accident Sunday morning.
A quiet Sunday morning at the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Topeka quickly turned to tragedy after an 89-year-old woman was hit by a van her husband was trying to park.
"Caught her and went across the parking lot, impacted the other car one of the parishioners actually got in the van to help it get stopped," said Sgt. Byron Endsley with the Topeka Police Department
Police say at about 9 a.m. he accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the break, dragging his wife several feet.
"It's sad any day. This is just tragic," said Sgt. Endsley.
