Dallas Cowboy's Running Back Makes Visits To Local Schools

A Dallas Cowboy Football player makes several stops to schools in the McAllen Area.

Student athletes at Nikki Rowe High received a surprise visit from a special guest....

On Thursday Dallas Cowboy running back Phillip Tanner spoke to them during a special presentation...

"truly an honor to com back and speak to them and let them know my story... and help them to overcome adversity..."

During his speech he spoke to them about the importance of education and perseverance...

For Tanner it wasn't his first time in the Valley and says he's glad to be back.

"I come here before for a celebrity basketball game at utpa they were so warm and they embraced me..."

For the students athletes at Nikki Rowe it was an important visit because they look up, not only as an athlete, but as a scholar.

"it meant a lot for dallas cowboy player to come over here to speak to us about working hard and how education is also there in your life."

"to never give up and if you have an opportunity in life to just take it and that is what we all need..."

While in McAllen Tanner made several stops including De Leon Middle School and McAllen High.
