Violence across the border continues and that is why the Commissioner of Customs and Border Protection met with Congressman Henry Cuellar and the local Sheriff's department to discuss border security in the Valley.

Customs Commissioner Alan Bersin stressed the importance of additional Border Patrol agents that have been added to help patrol the border and added border agents working with local and state law enforcement. "We need to focus on security at the same time move legitimate trade and travel through our ports of entry, both are necessary."

Congressman Cuellar said the importance of all law enforcement agencies working together, including the National Guard, to protect our border is a great help to the agents. Many at the meeting mentioned it was learning experience and knowing what tools are needed to keep our country safe and preventing the violence from spilling over the border.
