Customs and Border Protection officers stopped 133 pounds of marijuana from hitting Valley streets in two separate cases.
The first bust happened at the Hidalgo/Reynosa International bridge when officers noticed a Chevy Lumina had some discrepancies to the trunk area. Officers inspected the trunk and found 31 packages of marijuana stuffed in the backseat. They arrested the driver, Marcos Sanchez Martinez, and he is now facing federal drug charges.
Officers made a second bust at the Rio Grande City International bridge where they stopped a Chevy truck to examine its spare tire. Agents collected 41 pounds of marijuana from inside the tire and arrested Juan de Dios Plascencia Garcia who lives in Mission.
