Custom Agents Seize Half Million Dollars in Cocaine

La Joya police are searching for the owner of a white truck after finding over 300 pounds of marijuana.

The truck was discovered south of Military road at around 6:30 PM on Wednesday and police believe the truck broke down during the transportation of the drug. Police say there is evidence that an additional 75 pounds was removed from the truck.

Custom and Border Protection agents seized 12 pounds of cocaine inside a car that was crossing at the Gateway International port of entry from Mexico. The driver, a Mexican national, was arrested and turned over to Homeland Security and the estimated value of the cocaine is near $387,000 dollars.

At the Hidalgo International port of entry Custom agents seized nearly 17 pounds of cocaine bundled in six packages inside a hidden compartment inside a vehicle. The estimated value of the cocaine is believed to be over $500,000 dollars.
