Nearly two weeks after the opening of the Anzalduas/Hidalgo International bridge Custom officers have made their first drug seizure.
Agents found almost 250 pounds of marijuana in two separate busts at the point of entry. The first bust happened when a Mission resident was towing a flatbed trailer and after inspecting the vehicle, agents found 104 packages of marijuana in the trailers floor. The driver was arrested and his wife and children were released by agents.
In the second bust that happened at the old bridge yielded 24 packages of marijuana hidden in metal containers within the tires of a Ford Explorer. The driver, a Mexican citizen, was arrested by Custom agents.
