The first weekend of the new year brought lots of drug traffic to the Rio Grande Valley. Border Patrol Agents made multiple seizures of marijuana valued at more than $1.3 million dollars, and made several arrests.
Border Patrol is busy trying to account for all 3100 of its agents in the Valley on Friday. These steps are all being taken, after La Joya police say they received 911 calls, on Christmas day, that an agent had allegedly been kidnapped.
Donald Armin Alaniz, of McAllen, has been sentenced to 120 months imprisonment for possessing with intent to distribute approximately 1,780 kilograms of marijuana, announced U.S. Attorney Kenneth Magidson. Alaniz, 48, pleaded guilty Feb.
