Two Harlingen women arrested in prostitution sting

The Harlingen Police Special Investigation Unit conducted an undercover operation which resulted in the arrest of two women for prostitution.

On Friday, July 12 undercover officers approached a couple, in a green Chevy Lumina around 6 p.m., on the 500 block of W. Madison Ave, and questioned both the female and male occupant.

Through their investigation the female was identified as, Billie Jean Sharp, 20, who admitted in engaging in sexual conduct with the male for money.

Sharp was arrested and charged with prostitution and handed a $1,000 bond.

On that same evening, around 6:45 p.m., undercover officers came into contact with Grisela Olvera, 33, on the 700 block of W. Harrison Avenue and through questioning Olvera admitted to engaging in sexual conduct with a man in return for money.

Olvera was arrested for prostitution then transported to the city jail where it was revealed that she had two previous convictions on the same charge increasing her bond to $2,500.
