Traffic stop leads to arrest of Harlingen man with $2,700 in warrants

A Harlingen male, with active warrants, was arrested after a traffic stop by a Texas State Trooper.

On Wednesday, April 10, a Harlingen police officer was dispatched to the 100 block of West Loop 499 as a back-up unit for a Texas State Trooper.

During questioning of the driver the male subject gave a false name and stated he did not know his home address. Through further questioning it was discovered the driver's name was Rafael Ortega Jr., 21, who had an arrest warrant for forgery.

Ortega was arrested by Harlingen police and transported to jail with approximately $2,764 in municipal warrants.
