Theft ring, selling stolen items on Facebook page, busted

Harlingen police have busted up a theft ring with the stolen items being offered for sale on a Facebook page.

On Tuesday, September 3rd at around 8 p.m. police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Dixieland Road in reference to a theft.

Officers spoke with the victim who stated they had seen some of their stolen property on the Harlingen Facebook Estate Sale page.

The Targeted Response Unit contacted the suspects wanting to arrange a meeting at a residence on the 700 block of East Polk.

When officers arrived at the location the suspects attempted to run from the residence, but police were able to apprehend all the individuals and placing them under arrest.

The suspects were identified as Rafael Ortega Jr., 21,  Andrew Lawrence Banda, 21, Valerie Nichole Agado, 21, Ayisha Michelle Sanchez, 20, and Daniel Jaime Hernandez, 23 and a search warrant was issued resulting in the recovery of several stolen items.

During the search of the home, another suspect, identified as Joseph Saldivar, 24, arrived at the location and was arrested. Detectives believe Saldivar was committing the burglaries and supplying the stolen items to the group.

All six suspects were arrested for theft and evading arrest, additional Saldivar was arrested on a burglary of a motor vehicle.
