Teen arrested for possession of a controlled substance, also charged with bribery

HARLINGEN, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — A Harlingen teen, arrested for possession of a controlled substance, is also charged with bribery after offering the arresting police officer $10,000 dollars to let him go.
On Tuesday, April 29th at around 1:30 p.m. police were called to the area of New Hampshire Street and U.S 83 in reference to a disturbance.
Officers made contact with a man and woman in the area and questioned the two. The man was identified as Jonathan Garza Delgado, 18, and during his questioning his back pack was searched where officers found a silver .380 caliber handgun and 15.1 grams of cocaine.
Delgado was arrested and during his transportation to the city jail he offered the officer $10,000 for his release, also during the booking process officers located $40,000 wrapped in duct tape on his body.
Delgado was charged with possession of a controlled substance, unlawfully carrying a weapon and bribery with a bond amount of $155,000.
