Suspect arrested in aggravated assault case
BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — The Cameron County Sheriff's Department arrested a man they say was part of a aggravated assault.
Deputies report that Mark De La Fuente, 23, and another man, known as Josh, went drinking with the victim in a field located in San Benito last Friday.
The two began to beat the victim and then tossed him into the truck of a vehicle, but the victim was able to escape, through the backseat, while the car was moving.
The suspects then threw the victim out of the moving vehicle as stated by Cameron County Sheriff Lucio, "At the time he was in the trunk, he heard the two suspects talking about taking him to another field, killing him and burning his vehicle. He was lucky to get away, lucky to be alive. He has no reason why the people wanted to do this to him."
