Harlingen's Criminal Investigations Division and the U.S. Marshal's Service traveled to the City of Edinburg on Friday, April 5, in the possible whereabouts of Gabriel Vela.

Information led authorities to believe that Vela was at the Knights Inn Motel, located at 202 North 25th Avenue, and authorities had a outstanding warrant on Vela for a probation violation.

Detectives were able to link Vela, to the shooting on W. Wright Street from the arrest of his wife Dorothy Lee Sanchez, who had been questioned and charged on April 2nd. Sanchez is accused of being the driver of the vehicle used in the crime.
