Port Isabel man sentenced to 33 years in prison for sexual assault
BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — A judge in the 138th state District Court sentenced a Port Isabel resident to 33 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child in December 2012.
A jury found Miguel Angel Aguilera, 22, guilty Friday of aggravated sexual assault of a child. Aguilera has no possibility of parole or early release, because his victim was under six years of age at the time of the assault.
Cameron County Assistant District Attorneys Stephanie Rollins and Brandy Bailey prosecuted the case. Rollins and Bailey are members of District Attorney Luis V. Saenz’s newly-created Child Abuse Unit.
“Aguilera will be 55 years old when released from prison,” Saenz said. “Still, the number of years a child sex predator serves behind bars will never equal to the lifetime of pain a victim endures.”
