Pharr police searching for teen in kidnapping case
PHARR, TX — On October 31, 2013 at approximately 10:25 p.m. Pharr police officer were dispatched to the 300 block of E. Juarez in reference to an unauthorized use of motor vehicle.
Upon their arrival they met with a 16 year old victim who reported that a male juvenile by the name of Carlos Bustamante,16, had taken her car, a 2002 white Pontiac Grand Prix, without her consent.
The victim reported that Bustamante was an occupant in her vehicle prior to him taking the victim without her consent. The victim informed the officer that her 5 month old baby girl was inside the vehicle as well.
Officers, with the assistance of a witness, where able to contact Bustamante on a cell phone, who informed them that he was going to leave the child in the parking lot of the San Juan Basilica Shrine.
After a search, the child was located at the intersection of 1st and Lincoln Street in San Juan, Texas, in the child’s car seat.
The Pharr Police Department is requesting the assistance of the public in locating the victim’s vehicle a 2002 white Pontiac Grand Prix with a Texas plate number of CKT-1202. The vehicle has MSP written in red on both front doors.
Pharr Police have issued arrest warrants for Bustamante on charges of kidnapping, endangering a child, and unauthorized use of motor vehicle.
