HARLINGEN, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — A Harlingen couple have been arrested and charged with the injury of their 4 month-old child.
On Saturday, May 25th, police were dispatched to Valley Baptist Medical Center after a infant was admitted, by the parents, to the ER with a head trauma injury.
During questioning, both parents, Veronica Quintero, 20, and Sean Banuelos, 22, gave conflicting stories on how the infant sustained the head trauma and failed to cooperate with investigators
Officers believe both parents intentionally and knowingly caused the head trauma to their infant and were concealing the crime with false statements to investigators and Child Protective Services.
On June 6, Harlingen police and the U.S. Marshals Violent Offender Task Force enforced an arrest warrant for both parents near the 7900 block of Expressway 77 in Brownsville and both were booked into jail.
Both Quintero and Banuelos were charged with injury to a child with Quintero's bond set at $500,000 and Banuelos set at $600,000.
