Mission driver arrested on second DWI charge
MISSION, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — A 20 year-old man is behind bars for his second DWI charge in three months.
Steve Rolando Vela was arrested by Mission police two weeks ago for driving while intoxicated where it was reported that he was speeding and then crashed into a pillar at a IBC Bank location on January 26th with a blood alcohol content of .23.
Vela was also cited for DWI back on November of 2013 and Mission Police Officer Lt. Jody Tittle stated about IBC incident stating, "Our traffic investigators did calculate his speed, I don't have it off hand, but they did get more or less of a speed based on the skids. You know the science of the scene and he was going at a pretty high rate of speed."
Vela is charged with driving while intoxicated and evading arrest with a bond set at $250,000 dollars.
