La Feria resident Rodolfo Delgado Jr. was sentenced today, December 12th, to 25 years in prison for an August 2012 aggravated sexual assault with a deadly weapon.

Delgado, 27, attacked a woman with a baseball bat and sexually assaulted her. The 27-year-old was also sentenced to 20 years for Count II of aggravated sexual assault. The sentences shall run concurrently.

“Delgado has a history of domestic violence, and he needed to be taken off the streets,” Cameron County District Attorney Luis V. Saenz said.

Assistant District Attorneys Edna Dinsdale and Brandy Bailey prosecuted the case in the 103rd state District Court with Judge Manuel Banales presiding. A jury found him guilty today, and Delgado was later sentenced by the judge.
