Investigation of human smuggling leads to couple being arrested for possession of marijuana

An investigation by federal and local law enforcement agencies leads to a couple being arrested for possession of marijuana.

On Wednesday, May 7, around the noon hour Harlingen's Targeted Response Unit assisted Homeland Security Investigators and Border Patrol agents in a possible human smuggling investigation at a residence on the 500 block of North Jade Drive.

The residents at the home, identified as Sergio Cepeda, 40, and Rosalia Guerrero, 39, gave officers consent to search the home where 32 grams of marijuana was found in plain site.

Both Cepeda and Guerrero were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and smuggling of persons, each were handed a $19,500 bond.
