Husband arrested for assaulting wife with a scalpel
HARLINGEN, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Police arrested a husband on assault and deadly weapon charge after he used a scalpel on his wife during an argument.
On Sunday, July 7 police were called to the 800 block of Pittman Street after a woman reported she had been assaulted by her husband, identified as James Edward Rangel, 28, during a fight.
The wife told officers that the argument has escalated to the point where Rangel had pushed her up against a wall and placed a scalpel next her neck and leaving the house.
Police reported the wife had suffered a laceration on her cheek and neck area and also had a swollen right ankle.
Rangel was not located that night and investigators issued an arrest warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
On July 13th the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offender Task Force was able to locate Rangel at the home on Pittman Street and placed him under arrest on the warrant and he was handed a $50,000 bond.
