Husband and friend restrain wife then assault responding police officers

Two men were arrested for assaulting several police officers after attempting to prevent police from entering an apartment.

On Friday, August 23rd police were called to the 200 block E. Madison Avenue in regards to a female being assaulted.

The victim answered the door informing officers that her common-law husband, identified as Rolando Rubio, 26, had punched her in the face and was preventing her from leaving the premises.

During the victim's questioning, Rubio and another man, identified as Jean Linares, 23, interfered with officers by attempting to close the door over four times striking one officer on the thigh.

Police did gain entry into the apartment and once in both Rubio and Linares continued to punch at officers until officers were able handcuff and arrest both men.

Rubio was charged with two counts of assault on a public servant, unlawful restraint, interference with public duties and assault family violence with a bond totaling $77,000.

Linares was charged with assault on a public servant, unlawful restraint, resisting arrest and interference with public duties with a bond of $42,000.
