Two alien smugglers were arrested in the death of a smuggled woman who fell from a moving tractor trailer.

The two men, a Mexican national and a Laredo resident, were arrested on April 10, on state charges of felony murder, human smuggling and engaging in organized criminal activity.

Cresenzo Mario Espino, 32, from Mexico, and Jose Ricardo Perez-Solis, 22, from Laredo, were arrested in the Laredo and formerly charged April 11 in state court.

According to court documents, on January 20, 2012 a group of illegal immigrants were hiding inside an air dam compartment of a tractor when a female fell out from the moving vehicle and died from her injuries.

The investigation revealed that Espino and Perez-Solis were operating a smuggling ring in Laredo using local truck stops to move the immigrants farther north.
